How to get there.

From the old highway N-340 get onto the A-366 in the direction of Coín. It will take you straight to Alhaurín el Grande. From the city of Málaga, take the Cártama road (A-357), and when you get there take the MA-425, which leads to Alhaurín el Grande. Another option from the Western Costa del Sol is to get off the Mediterranean Expressway and, between Benalmádena and Fuengirola, get onto the A-368 in the direction of Mijas. It connects afterwards with the A-366. This is a winding mountain road but is well paved and offers extraordinary scenic views both of the coast and, after crossing the Mijas mountain range, of the Guadalhorce valley.

Getting around in Monda

Getting to Monda by Car
Monda is 64km away from Malaga airport and would take on average 50 minutes by car to reach, coming from Malaga airport. There are numerous rental car agents operating within the airport and also in many of the cities along the Costa del Sol if you require a car. The main reason why it is not always advised to rent a car is due to the difficulty to find on-street parking, especially during the summer months. However, Monda is a relatively quiet town and so finding parking for a car should not be a problem. It can be a better option to get a taxi into the town on the first night and then rent a car by the day if you wish to go sightseeing in the surrounding areas, and due to the rural location Monda would be one town on the Costa del Sol where a car would be beneficial.

Take a Taxi to Monda
As previously mentioned it can take, on average, around 50 minutes to get to Monda by taxi from Malaga airport, and taxis are available 24 hours a day. Fares can vary depending on time of day & season. The usual, common sense rules apply when taking a taxi abroad: agree the rate in advance, if the driver is being vague ask to see the rate book, every taxi driver should be carrying one, by law. This will enable you to show them exactly where you need to go. Be aware of the minibuses, as they will often try to double charge you for your journey.
